Things You Should Know About Your Eyeliner

The eyeliner is one of the top beauty products to date. Every girl should have a trusty eyeliner to trot along in any occasion due to its handy and flexible use. Not to mention it definitely defines the eye in mere seconds. Most women consider the use of such product as a daily routine. Its function is to widen or narrow down the appearance of the eyes through the clever use of an eyeliner pencil, powder, gel or in its liquid form.

Most makeup artists consider the liquid eyeliner as a timeless tool for beauty. In buying liquid eyeliners, girls are advised to choose a brand, which promises immunity against chips and smears. Those characteristics are lifesavers against common enemies such as sweating, crying or swimming. The basic application of the liquid is to start at the upper lash line in thin strokes. The strokes must come from the inner to the outer corners of the eye. The resulting line is usually flawless. The basic eyeliner color is of course black. However, as time changed so does the products hues. Many women now have the option to choose from the more conservative brown up to the daring pink or red. Many celebrities such as Zooey Deschanel were seen wearing colors that are more provocative. In Descahnel’s case, the color was a “hot pink” during the She and Him’s campaign for the music video, entitled as “Don’t Look Back”. She did pull it off, but others may not have the face and the confidence to wear this blaring color.

Most people may already know that the usage of this product dates back from ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia. Formerly, the trend was to put a dark black line around the eyes. Researchers consider that eyeliners back then were used as protection against evil spirits. However, this was changed in the 1920’s after the Western world adapted the use of cosmetics. Women back then became more liberal and there were a lot of changes in the fashion industry. The evolution of the eyeliner continues up to this day wherein it was used by both men and women. Eyeliners became more prominent as it was associated with the Gothic and Punk fashion.
